Prairie Farms School and Community Building

The community and school building at the Prairie Farms Resettlement Community in Macon County in 1939. The school, named the Tuskegee Institute Prairie Farms Laboratory School, encompassed a classroom building, athletic facilities, shops, and a health center. Classes ranged from grades 1 through 9, and students could also participate in running the school newspaper, working in the campus cooperative store, and joining social, academic, and 4-H clubs.
