Striped Mullet

The striped mullet (Mugil cephalus) is a salt water species, but large numbers of individuals migrate into and out of the lower Alabama and Tombigbee rivers annually. Anglers attract striped mullet in the lower Alabama River by leaving a porous sack filled with corn on a sand bar for several days. On returning, they catch mullet around the sack using a cane pole baited with corn or bread balls.
