Lowndes County Freedom Organization 1 of 3

The atmosphere of Lowndes County leading up to the civil rights movement is described, setting the stage for the formation of the Lowndes County Freedom Organization, also known as the Black Panther Party. The organization worked with Stokely Carmichael's Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee to increase voter registration and political representation in the African American population.
