Lake View is located in Tuscaloosa County in the west-central region of the state. It has a mayor/city council form of government.
Lake View was incorporated in 1997.
According to the 2010 Census, Lake View had a population of 1,943. Of that number, 93.9 percent of respondents identified themselves as white, 4.2 percent as African American, 0.9 percent as two or more races, 0.7 percent as Asian, 0.6 percent as Hispanic, and 0.1 percent as Native American. The town's median household income, according to 2010 Census estimates, was $77,750, and the per capita income was $28,334.
According to the 2010 Census, the workforce in Lake View was divided among the following occupational categories:
· Manufacturing (17.0 percent)
· Educational services, and health care and social assistance (14.4 percent)
· Retail trade (14.0 percent)
· Transportation and warehousing and utilities (9.5 percent)
· Construction (9.0 percent)
· Wholesale trade (7.0 percent)
· Finance, insurance, and real estate, rental, and leasing (4.8 percent)
· Agriculture, forestry, fishing and hunting, and extractive (6.2 percent)
· Professional, scientific, management, and administrative and waste   management services (5.2 percent)
· Arts, entertainment, recreation, and accommodation and food services (4.1   percent)
· Other services, except public administration (2.6 percent)
· Public administration (2.5 percent)
· Information (1.7 percent)
Lake View is part of the Tuscaloosa County Public Schools. There are no schools in the town itself.
Lake View is served by State Highway 216, which runs east-west through the town and connects with Interstate 20/59 just to the east of the town. and 182, both of which run east-west, and State Highway 161, which runs north-south. Jack Edwards Airport serves general aviation.
